Right to Manage
Lessees in blocks of flats have the legal right, under the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, to take over all of the management functions of their building and appoint their own Property Manager. This is a welcome opportunity for lessees who are unhappy with the way their building is run to effect a change. This right is known as the Right to Manage (RTM).
Gaining control of your block of flats can, however, be complicated and certain criteria must be met. Using the experience and advice of professionals who have helped leaseholders through various stages of the process is vital.
